Moroccan Oil

Proudly a product of Israel, Moroccan oils revolutionary styling, finishing and conditioning hair products are growing in popularity in the US and Europe. Favored by A-List celebrities as it's guaranteed to make your hair feel and look healthier after just one application. While the product has been around for ages, their latest campaign really caught my attention. Miss Israel 2011 is featured in the shoot with her gorgeous long wavy hair! ( I am a sucker for advertising )

While the product is amazing, its best suited to thick curly/frizzy hair, and you have to use the right amount and not a drop more because it is quite oily and tends to weigh down fine hair.
Argan oil is a legendary oil that is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Sadly Argan oil is not the main ingredient in Moroccan oil products, But it has given me an idea to recommend making a treatment at home that would be even more beneficial then the store bought product.

The oil is said to have many benefits, including hydrating skin, it allegedly has anti aging properties and has been rumored to be good for toning and firming. It is also believed to help with various skin conditions including acne.Normally the oil is produced by first stripping the soft pulp from the nuts. Then they are cured in the sun. The nuts are cracked open and the seeds removed. They roast the seeds add water and grind the nuts into a thick paste. The paste is then squeezed and the oil is extracted.
All argan sold today is produced by a women from a specific tribe that share the profits amongst themselves. The group of women have established an ecosystem reforestation project so that the supply of argan oil will not run out in the near future.

Argan oil rinses out very easily from the hair, making it more suitable then olive or coconut oil treatments. It can be bought at most top quality pharmacies and teva stores. Apply a generous amount to your dry hair, make sure the hair is coated evenly, and comb through. Put on a plastic shower cap, and dip a hair towel into hot water. Ring out the excess water from the towel and wrap it around the shower cap. Sit with it for 20 mins, warming the towel again if necessary. Wash and condition normally. apply to damp hair a small amount of Argan oil, and either blowdry or leave to air dry. You hair will be soft, smooth and very shiny, as well as reducing the volume.
